The team onboard our ship
Hermann finished his studies in tourism management at the University of Iceland and certification of Iceland tour guide in 2015. The native Icelander spent two years of his childhood in Germany and speaks the language fluently. In 2018 he sold his property management company so he could spend more time focusing on tour guiding and photography. Hermann looks forward to meet you onboard the SEAVENTURE.
Immediately after school he traveled to Iceland for the first time and was fascinated by the far north. Already during his study time he traveled often to Iceland, Greenland and Norway and since 1994 he is also tour guide in these countries. Since 2008 he also works as regular tour guide, On-board lecturer and expedition leader on various ships in the North Atlantic and has published various books, e.g. about the eruption of the volcano Eyjafjallajökull.
Jens Ruminy was born and brought up in Munich, Germany but has been living in Reykjavik, Iceland since 2000. He is married to an Icelander, they have 2 children. He has diplomas in political sciences (corresponding to M.A.) and is a registered translator (IS–DE). Jens has been working in tourism in Iceland since 1998 and is a certified tour guide in German, English, and French. He has a wide range of interests: history, geology, society, and energy. On our cruises, he has served as a tour guide and zodiac driver.
Arndis Halla Asgeirsdottir
Native Icelander Arndis is a wellknown opera star and the voice of APASSIONATA, Europe’s most successful entertainment show about horses. But she has another passion: making her home country more accessible in a very charming and entertaining way. Arndis enjoys talking about Iceland, its people and especially its folkloric superstitions. Arndis delights with century-old tales about trolls and elves. She loves Iceland’s clean air, which intensifies the colors in nature and the wide variety of natural landscapes.
Dorothee graduated from the University of Cologne with a Master of Arts in Scandinavian Studies, German Literature and as History. She has been associated with Iceland for a long time. She worked for seven years for the largest Icelandic book publisher in Germany, gave Icelandic lessons for beginners at Nordica language institute, and co-organized readings with Icelandic authors. In addition she lived in Iceland for longer periods during her studies. A few years ago she transferred her permanent home over to the island and shortly thereafter attended a guide training school.
The Scandinavian countries have been fascinating to Svenja her whole life. She was born not far from the Danish border in Northern Germany. Her bachelor course in Flensburg with a focus on sport and event management included also two semesters in Norway and the U.S. The subsequent master course Svenja absolved in Denmark in 2015. She could moreover gain valuable working experience as a management team member of a language travel camp in England. Svenja is looking forward to showing our guests the extraordinary sceneries of the North, which she enthuses about herself.
